5 Essentials while uploading images on your blog

by ZK on August 12, 2008

Below are the top 5 essential elements to ensure blog / site optimisation when you upload images.

1)  Include relevant keywords in your image name. Ensure that the keywords for the images are relevant to the post or to your blog or site. ( ie. instead of DSC- image.32 , you can name the image as Affiliate marketing.jpg or Make money online.jpg)

2)  Use “Title” attributes (ie. Make your images searches more meaningful and informative, use Title = laptop on table or similar ). Avoid using the same Title tag for more than two images on the same page. google hates duplication.

3) Use ALT tags

This may not boost your SERP in the short term, but will help increase results. Avoid using the same ALT tag for more than two images on the same page. Google hates duplication.

4 )  Avoid using characters in file names (ie. Instead of Des%13%money.jpg use Des-13money.jpg )

5 )  Upload images in relevant folders (ie. images/blogging/make-money-online.jpg is better than images/make-money-online.jpg)

Thats good …

To a search engine, an image is only worth a few words.

While uploading the images use the related keywords which will increase the traffic from image search

I must say dude…I don’t optimize my images at all! This is something I need to start doing. I’ve heard it said before…I just haven’t done it man…I need to though.
