Google Doodle’s Tribute To Freddie Mercury

If you are a Queen fan like me, you are going to love this Doodle, it’s simply awesome . Google Doodle pays tribute to rock legend and Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury on his 65th birthday. Born Farrokh Bulsara on 5 th September 1946 to Indian parents in Zanzibar, Freddie was celebrated as one of rocks greatest performers. Freddie died in 1991 at the age of 45, after a four year battle with AIDS.

Click on the play icon, and you’ll see a YouTube animated video of Mercury playing to his hit song “Don’t Stop Me Now”. This Google Doodle is the second longest doodle, (Charlie Chaplin tribute being the longest) and is a treat for all Queen and Freddie Fans.

Freddie would have been 65 this year, and even though physically he is not here, his presence seems more potent than ever. Freddie made the last person at the back of the furthest stand in a stadium feel that he was connected. He gave people proof that a man could achieve his dreams—made them feel that through him they were overcoming their own shyness, and becoming the powerful figure of their ambitions. And he lived life to the full. He devoured life. He celebrated every minute. And, like a great comet, he left a luminous trail which will sparkle for many a generation to come.

RIP Freddie and thanks for giving us such amazing music.

It’s a beautiful sunny morning here in Toronto, there could not have been a better day to be out celebrating Canada Day

Canada today celebrates the 144 th anniversary of the founding of Canada on July 1, 1867 as an independent Kingdom of the British Empire. It’s a national holiday here and a long weekend…Awesome. Canada Day is about celebrating freedom of expression. A land of opportunity, opportunity that’s your to seek.

This post is a tribute to all my fellow Canadians living in Canada and around the world. And if I can have your attention, I would like to ask:

What is the best thing about Being Canadian ?
For me it’s freedom, diversity, opportunity and the beautiful people that live in this country.

If you still haven’t decided what you are going to dress up as for Halloween, then let Google help you decide with the top Halloween costumes for 2010. Search for costumes have seen a steady rise since August and have inspired millions to shop online for Halloween costumes.

Lady Gaga may have topped the Halloween costumes searches last year, but this year we have a new girl that has topped the costumes charts – Snooki, one of MTV’s “Jersey Shore” stars. Snooki costumes tops the list of fastest rising costume searches in 2010, followed by Avatar, Iron Man and Lady Gaga costumes.

I wish all my US readers and subscribers Happy 4 th of July , US Independence day falls 3 days after Canada Day ( which falls on 1st July). I am sure lot of you would have taken the weekend off and carried that barbecue & beer cans with you.

I’ve pulled out a quick chart from my Google Analytics and it shows that US represents 36.56 % of my visits and Canada at 8.19 %. The majority of my readers and subscribers are based in the Northern Hemisphere of the globe

Canada Day Celebrations at Yonge - Dundas Square, Toronto

Today is 1st July and Canada celebrates another birthday, marking the anniversary of Canadian Confederation in 1867 and the birth of Canada as a nation.

Canada Day is about celebrating freedom of expression

I wake up everyday and thank GOD for giving me the opportunity to live in this wonderful country. We have the best of health care, the best of education and the nicest of people living in this country.

This blog post is a tribute to the people of this country for making it the best country to live on Planet Earth.

There are about seven billion people on this planet, Canada makes up about thirty four million of them. The odds of being a Canadian on this planet is about half a percent. Being one in half a percent is like winning the 649 jackpot.

You know you are in Canada when:

- Cars are parked on the driveway and the Garage is filled with junk.

- People on board start clapping and singing “ O Canada” as the plane lands on any Canadian airport.

- The temperature drops from 10 degrees to minus 10 degrees in less than 10 hours.

- You pay a $3 fare for a minimum and maximum bus ride.

- You start your day and end your day discussing the weather.

- Your boss comes to work on roller blades or on a bicycle.

- They tell you Canada has four seasons, but you feel there is just one season (Winter ) throughout the year.

- Minus 20 degrees feels pleasant.

- You hear someone at the nearby store say “ Double Double”

- You drink Pop, not soda

- “Eh?” is a very important part of your vocabulary, and is more polite than, “Huh?

Canada Day festivities on Parliament Hill and across the country start around noon on Canada Day. The National Capital Commission has a live web cam right across Parliament Hill, Ottawa so you can check in through the course of the day and watch the crowd grow.
