MSM Video Series: How to find out what your members want before you launch

by ZK on March 15, 2010

This is a part of Yaro’s Membership Site Mastermind Video Series

Yaro has made a short video for you where he explains how he used a simple survey to determine what his blog readers and members wanted from his first training program launch.

It’s important to understand what your readers want from your blog or from your email list and surveys play an important role in giving you that feedback.

This is a very powerful technique because not only does it help you isolate the needs of your potential customers, it also gives you an insight into the type of language they use to describe their problems.

Yaro uses a very basic email survey and transcribes responses via pen and paper. You can also use Google docs to collect and analyze the data.

Yaro has just re-released his FREE Membership Site Masterplan ebook and opened doors to his Membership Site Mastermind program along with tons of bonuses.

Yaro’s work is really great, and I frequent his blog because of the quality he has to offer. I like the title of this post, as one must be careful to put oneself in the reader’s shoes. What we accept & logically jump to because we know ur individual industries might not necessarily apply to a newby who wants more information.

Doing your research before diving into any form of business online is important. Know your audience and provide what they want if you want to succeed. Simple but often overlooked. Great video!

Agreed. Too many people jump in without surveying the waters and weather and it really hurts them sometimes. :(

While a survey is very powerful if used correctly, used incorrectly you will waste your time and get very few responses. Generally people usually don’t like to do surveys. So you have to be sure to do it in an unobtrusive way. Keep the survey short and if possible offer a random prize winner for completing the survey.
