Top 7 Reasons to Have a Blog

Blog

There are over 50 million blogs in the world.  Did you ever think you put that number? Think that behind those 50 million blogs, there are at least 50 million people writing, updating and promoting those blogs. For many of them, it is just a hobby. For others it is a way of life to learn and earn.

Anyway the purpose for using your blog, there must be some reason behind these blogs, a very strong purpose that makes those 50 million souls spend hours of your life that bit lost in the wilderness that is the blogosphere.

The truth is that there are 7 reasons for bloggers to have a blog. These 7 reasons must be submitted in any blog, because they guarantee success.

Lets see one by one every reason to understand why you should have a blog.

1. To explore your creativity

We all know the importance of creativity in our lives. The biggest advantage of creativity is that it helps us to solve everyday problems. Having a “corner” where we can develop our creativity and imagination is a great way to grow as an individual.

Also, let’s be honest, it feels good to be creative. A blog, or rather, writing a blog , to exploit this capability.

2. To achieve the “dream job”

First, you must define what exactly means a “dream job”. If you want to be independent, then you can create a business around your blog which allows you to have that work to give you the freedom  that you want. If you want to get into a great company, and / or if you want a good job in it, then a blog can also help you.

The advantage of a blog is that it allows you to show your interest, identity and your knowledge, which may surprise more than one executive. In turn, a blog demonstrates an entrepreneurial mindset that many executives may be looking for.

Finally, as a result of these advantages is that a blog is a business card that makes you stand out above the rest .

3. To show your skills

You can use your blog as a way to get all your knowledge freely without any commitment, as well as what you can do to create a business around or to get your dream job.

In either case you are benefiting your audience, which can become an authority in your industry or niche. And that is very good.

Being an authority allows you to create a community around your brand, whether personal or corporate.

Once you become an authority in your industry or niche can bring your ideas to where you want: you can create an event, you can create products, you can become a / a speaker, you can write a book, etc..

4. To improve your knowledge

As I said in point 2, a blog is like a modern business card . So when you go to an event, being a “blogger” can give some credibility, especially if you already have a “tribe” around your blog.

For example, if you want someone famous in your industry, being a blogger can really help. If you show that you are also an authority to that person, it will surely be amazed and you’re up to it.

As you will be seeing, blogs help you stand out, with all the advantages that entails.

5. To meet people

Blog works like open doors. Doors that can take you to start new businesses, make new friends and business contacts, and get new customers.

Although blogs are not the only or best way to meet new people, are a means of allowing to start a relationship that can end in a new friend, contact or client.

As I said earlier, blogging is a business card, not the same introduce yourself to someone and say you are the executive of X company, which means you have a blog with X amount of followers (beyond the job you have.)

As explained in Section 3, to meet new people, you can become a leader in your industry or niche, and that is something that few people get.

6. To get more customers

As one customer can get a blog, you can also create a business 100% from the same.

A typical example is the people who are engaged in marketing consulting, SEO, design and programming. These people just sell their services from your blog.

Anyway, I would like to clarify that I’m very much against bloggers who all they do is talk about blogs as if they were a business. No, blogs are not a business in it self (unless you’re Matt Mullenweg , founder of WordPress).

Blogs are a means by which you can create a business . Do not confuse the means with the end.

One blogger because if not, one is blogger that wants to provide value to their customers, because they want to help solve a problem , whether that problem help others become better bloggers bloggers (go confusion), help people save or invest their money, or be better application programmers.

So, remember the following: a blog is a way to create a business, not a business in itself.

7. To learn

They say write what you learn and comment is used to store newly learned knowledge. Well, maybe write on the computer is not the same as writing by hand.

However, in my experience, writing works.

Whether you’re a beginner who just uses a blog as a diary where he outlined his new knowledge, a “thinker” who wants to “larger” their ideas about a particular topic, or an expert who wants to share their knowledge, whatever the case, write serves to keep learning, because as you know, one never stops learning.

Conclusion

Blogs are a unique opportunity for the XXI century has given us. They are a very particular form of entrepreneurship, where what one “wins” you earn by helping others. Everyone should have a blog, because, as you learned, may enhance your creativity, meet new people, show off your knowledge and learn new things. There is no other way to accomplish all this while with a blog, so I ask you, what are you waiting for open your own blog?

Do you have a blog? If not, why do not you open one yet? Let me know the answers below in the comments.

I have a blog and a website. Through both of them I provide tax, estate, trust, estate planning articles to educate the public and build a following and to write about things I think my readers may need. Your post hits on many of the objectives involved in this endeavor. I enjoy doing this but it does take a lot of time.

You are right it is always good to have a blog to have lots of social benefits but search engines also give more weight to those sites which have blogs. But the competition between blogs have been increased severely in the last couple of years and it is getting difficult to rank higher in SERP with even for low competitive keywords.

It is always good to have a blog. It provides valuable unique content to the website and also drives traffic to the main site.
