During a lot of interviews, I’ve always been asked what blogs I read and recommend to people who want to be a blogger. I always have one common blog in the list – Problogger.net aka Darren Rowse. Darren has been an inspiration to me and a hero to many bloggers. Problogger.net is an encyclopedia of blogging and internet marketing tips. Darren ran a challenge last month titled “31 Days to Build a Better Blog.”
“The idea is simple. By the end of this challenge you’ll have learned 31 aspects of blogging and put them into practice. It is designed not only to fill your head with knowledge ABOUT blogging, but also to give you some concrete things to actually DO something with the knowledge.”
-A Task – something to DO that day.
-Teaching – each day you’ll be given great instruction on both the WHY and HOW of the task of the day.
To make it simple each day you had a teaching and a task. The teaching would give you the concepts and theory, and the task would force you to take action on what you had just learned. A simple and effective way to teach a subject. Over 13,000 people participated in the challenge, and the feedback that Darren got was very good. It was so good, that he decided to create a workbook out of it.
31 Days to Build a Better Blog is a downloadable e-book designed to help you revitalize your blog by giving you 31 tasks that will all help to turn it your blog into the page view powerhouse you’ve always dreamed of.
He sent me a copy of the workbook via email, the workbook is packed with information on Building a successful blog from scratch in 31 days. There are 94 pages of pure content, Darren has put two pages on each page so it’s really 188 pages and condensed for easy printing. Wow 31 Days is a long time to follow and put steps into practice, I find a lot of people / bloggers / web masters buy into eBooks and guides just for curiosity sake, to get people to actually work hard for 31 days is a tough ask … kudos to those that go through with it though. The benefits would be huge … Good luck !!
31 days is a very short time to build a blog and get coached by the master blogger – Darren Rowse. People have spent months figuring out how to build blogs..its not the 31 days that are important here, its the mind set from the master blogger thats worth its weight in gold.
You are right that 31 days is a very short time. But in real it is not I think that Darren want to say you can build a blog in 31 days and get some traffic on it and start some income. Am I right about it.

I am actually part of a similar challenge that looks a lot like this book.
It’s about building a blog and branding myself for 30 days.
It’s not even been two weeks and things are going GREAT !
I think the biggest trigger factor here is that by getting step by step daily tasks to do, you MUST TAKE ACTION in order to keep up with the rest.

My one complaint with 31 DBBB is that the book links to various ProBlogger posts, and I feel like that’s a bit of a cop-out. Still, that’s really my only complaint. Like I explained above, it’s the convenience of this book that makes it worth the money. Going through the chapters and implementing some of their tactics has been extremely helpful in the week I’ve had it.
