This post is not about tips on how to create viral videos, its also not about how videos go viral.
Today’s post is about enjoying a simple, real life video which went viral as soon as it was posted on YouTube.
Its a video about 7 year old David DeVore Jr. who is struggling to understand the after effects of a dental surgery. David’s dad shot the video with an ordinary Flip cam in the parking lot of the dentist’s office to show his wife that David was fine after under going the dental surgery.
The video was shot in 2008 and was the second most watch video of 2009 trailing only to Susan Boyle’s appearance on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.
David After Dentist is an internet phenomenon, as of March 6, 2012, the video has been viewed 107 million times on You Tube. Soon after the video went viral the DeVore family were made YouTube partners, which meant that YouTube could place ads over the video in exchange for a share in revenue.
The DeVore family have also appeared on numerous TV and reality shows to discuss the video. The family has not revealed the amount they make from the video, merchandise and appearances but its estimated to be more than $150,000 a year.

Wow, what an amazing video. At first glance, I thought David is your kid.
Ha Ha..How I wish I was making $150,000 a year from a 2 minute video
I agree with Jasmine, at first view I thought in the same way. But after watching the video, I came to know the real things behind the videos.
This video is ridiculous it proves neglect in their family. Someone should have explained to this poor kid what is going on. He was obviously scared and needed some reassurance, but instead they just laughed at him and recorded this. They should be investigated by child services. This is sick. Some people just shouldn’t be allowed to have kids.
The DeVore couple sure are lucky just by posting a video about David and that YouTube made them partner.
This is amazing that the parents can earn more than $150,000 a year..
