Twitter has surpassed a milestone of 10 billion Tweets .
The 9,999,999,999 th Tweet was sent by Rafaela Marques from Brazil.
However the profile of the user who sent the 10 th billion tweet is still a mystery as the user has a protected profile. Twitter had raced past Digg, LinkedIn and New York times last April .
In December 2009 Twitter recorded its 1 billionth tweet. Twitters were tweeting 5000 times a day in 2007, 300,000 in 2008 and in 2009 it has grown to 2.5 million tweets a day.
Tweets grew by more than 1400% last year to 35 million a day, Today we are seeing 50 million tweets a day. That’s an average of 600 tweets per second.
According to the above estimate the 20th billion tweet will only take about 4-5 months.

i bet they wont reach 20 billions, as tweeter is becoming more a buziness tool , it’s has significantly deviated from its initial goal
I’d take that bet any day. Twitter will most definitely reach 20 billion, and likely in only another year or two. It is true that business marketing and ads are slowly taking over, but new people are still getting hooked on twitter every day. Once they get hooked they are twitter addicts.
Twitter is killing it. Although I heard the same angel investor that contributed to Twitter, also was an angel investor for Digg, and StumbleUpon. So “he’s” killin’ it!

Wow. I wonder how long Twitter will remain popular. I just start using it on a regular basis on Feb. 4, 2010. I tweet 6 day a week, 20 tweets a day and I re-tweet a day. Never on Sunday. It has brought traffic to my site. I will need a little more time to see if it makes me any more money, but I do like tweeting and reading tweets.
