Facebook to now integrate directly with Twitter

by ZK on August 23, 2009

Facebook-Twitter

Facebook is in the process of releasing a new feature for Facebook Pages, this feature will allow you to automatically post updates to Twitter simultaneously. The feature presently is only for Pages and not for individual profiles.

Facebook fan pages are a success with public figures and businesses, if you have created Facebook pages you want to share a status update, or a photo with your fans and community. Celebrities like to share personal news with their Facebook fans and Twitter followers all at the same time.

If you manage a Facebook page you will now be able to decide whether to share updates with your Twitter followers, you ll also be able to control what type of update you wish to share : status, photos, links, events or all of them. You will also have the option to link multiple pages to different Twitter accounts.

With this integration, its very clear that social media marketing is gone main stream and social media sites are ready to blend with each other to give the user an integrated platform

The new feature can be found at Facebook.com/Twitter

Everybody’s talking about Twitter, and I think this integration is cool, but I REALLY still don’t get Twitter. 1300 followers later, I fail to see how it’s really adding anything to my business to have a Twitter account and to be re-tweeting all of my blog posts, as well as other random stuff I find interesting.

Any suggestions? Maybe I’m doing something wrong. I’ve read Joel Comm’s book… good book, but I’m still not convinced of Twitter’s long-term viability, or even short-term usefulness.

It’s about time that they integrated Facebook and Twitter capabilities! I’m just wondering when Twitter is going to get smart and start figuring out how to make some money that way that Facebook does…

Expect this relationship to eventually encompass regualar status reports too, with twitter & facebook both benefitting handsomely from this symbiotic relationship….

This is really interesting. Facebook and twitter being two of the giants. To me Twitter was like facebook’s status feature without all the rest of it, that’s why I stuck to facebook but now I think I’ll get a twitter account and link them.

We use this feature all the time, in fact we have several facebook groups and pages and several twitter accounts and use tweetdeck to push our tweets onto all the relevant pages
